Hakkari University was established pursuant to Article 99 of Law No. 5765 dated 22 May 2008 on Amendments to the Law on the Organization of Higher Education Institutions, the Decree Law on Academic Staff of Higher Education Institutions, and the Decree Law on General Staff and Procedures. With this law, Hakkari University gained legal personality.
Hakkari University consists of:
a) The Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, the Faculty of Engineering, and the Faculty of Education transferred from Van Yüzüncü Yıl University; the Faculty of Theology and the Faculty of Fine Arts established by the Council of Ministers Decision No. 2011/2018 published in the Official Gazette dated 03.07.2011 and numbered 27983; the School of Foreign Languages established by the Council of Ministers Decision No. 2011/2088 published in the Official Gazette dated 20.08.2011 and numbered 28031; and the Faculty of Health Sciences established by Presidential Decree No. 2319 dated 27.03.2020.
b) The Çölemerik Vocational School, Yüksekova Vocational School, and Vocational School of Health Services, which were transferred from Van Yüzüncü Yıl University and continue their educational activities.
c) The Graduate Education Institute and the Continuing Education Center established under the Rectorate.
In addition, the Revolving Fund Management Office was established in 2011.
